‘Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty’ was the 2023 Met Gala theme, honouring the fashion icon. A night of glamour, with attendees presenting their takes through breath-taking wardrobe choices. As the party ended, it became evident who had excelled in the fashion game and who had not.
Let’s see AOH residents’ picks!
I found Anne Hathaway and Dua Lipa the best dressed. Hathaway’s white tweed Versace gown honoured Lagerfeld’s history. Lipa turned heads in an innovative Chanel 1994 fall bridal couture gown also created by Lagerfeld.
Lil Nas X decided to dress in a layer of silver body paint over glitter and roughly 5,000 Swarovski crystals. I thought it looked awful. The most ‘theatrical’ costume belonged to Jared Leto. The actor outdid even his own outfits by showing up in an accurate cat suit in honour of the late Lagerfeld’s cat Choupette.
Nitya (9244) appreciated the attires. “Everyone was dressed to the nines. It was a sight to behold. But in their white gowns, Dua Lipa and Alia Bhatt stood out.” The Met Gala, in her opinion, is an occasion that presents surprises each year.
According to Divisha (8124), the Met Gala was a fun occasion that drew celebrities from all over. “Lilly Collins’ dress stood out with its ‘kar!’ decoration. One of the best looks of the evening! While Lil Nas X’s dress was the ugliest, Rihanna’s was the most bizarre design choice. The aesthetic high point, though, was Doja Cat’s cat costume; a masterpiece!”
Shambhavi (9242) couldn’t help drooling over the outfits that graced the red carpet. She said, “The fashion was breath-taking. Anne Hathaway caught my eye as the best dressed. She looked stunning in her sophisticated outfit and stylish hair and makeup. Lil Nas X’s attire seemed disturbing.”
Occasions like the Met Gala are great conversation starters, don’t you think?
