Anu Dogra Admitted to AIIMS Hospital for Surgery After Stray Dogs Chased Her

Stray Dogs & Monkeys Run Wild in Vasant Kunj

A woman from Vasant Kunj recently suffered a leg fracture after a pack of stray dogs chased her at her residential complex. The woman, 56-year-old Anu Dogra is in need of a corrective surgery and is currently admitted to AIIMS hospital.

The incident was captured in the RWA’s security camera where the woman could be seen coming down the stairs from her flat, when five to six dogs came running towards her. One of them crashed into her which led her to trip and fall with her leg twisted. The dogs are then seen running away.

As per the report, the woman was identified as the wife of Dr PN Dogra, a former renowned urologist at AIIMS. She was climbing down the stairs to take a walk within the society premises. The residents of the colony expressed concern over increasing instances of stray dog attacks in their locality.

In another instance of stray dog attack last month, a 12-year-old girl from Ghaziabad was seriously injured after a pack of stray dogs attacked her in a residential complex. The video of the incident went viral on social media where a pack of stray bags are seen attacking a child leaving the kid with several bite marks and cuts.

In March, two minor brothers, aged 7 and 5 respectively, were found dead in Rangpuri Pahari, in the Vasant Kunj area causing massive outrage in the city. The children’s bodies bore multiple injury marks that were caused by animal bites.

Vasant Kunj is also now in the grip of the monkey menace. Recently when a Vasant Kunj resident, kept his balcony door ajar for some comfort from the scorching heat early this month, he had no idea about the trauma he and his family would soon face. Two monkeys barged in. A few minutes were enough for the wild simian to ransack the entire second-floor apartment and flee with the fruits kept on the table. While leaving, the monkeys damaged and broke the potted plants so lovingly being cared by the family.

“We are lucky that my wife, daughter and 65-year-old mother somehow escaped unhurt,” said the resident. This summer, thousands of residents in posh South Delhi neighbourhoods such as Vasant Kunj, Saket, Chhatarpur and Sainik Farms are facing deadly monkey attacks. In view of the above, ARWA needs to lay down strict controls and employ professionals to ward off the stray dogs and monkey attacks. Animal lovers must also keep in mind the safety factor of senior citizens and children while feeding the stray dogs. It is high time that a permanent solution is found….and that too soon-or otherwise we may have many more injured citizens in the colony –the trauma of Anu Dogra is a mirror for all of us.
