The true beauty of music is that it connects people and with all its subtleties, has immense power to unite people, spreads love and brings peace in the world!
Music enthusiasts and audience participated in one such event, a fun Musical Antakshari, in the Meghdutam Fest 2024, at the Meghdutam Amphitheatre; and conducted by this writer. Audience was encouraged to come and play this popular game. On-the-spot 4 teams, of 4 members each, were formed namely, Manchaley, Diljaley, Chanchaley and Makhmaley.
The audience clapped, cheered and sang along with the team members as they sang melodious songs. The interesting rounds like ‘Shabd Uthao Gana Gao’ and ‘Jodi Batao Gana Gao’ were a cake walk for all the teams. Many-a-clues were thrown to the audience as well, and they came up and sang very well. In fact, a family from the Crescent Apartment initially said they couldn’t sing but later the father-son duo not only joined as team members but sang beautifully too. The mother too sang in the audience round. The last round ‘Andaza lagao Gana Gao’ was enjoyed the most by all, where the lyrics of a Bollywood song were translated in English and the teams had to identify the song and sing it too. But kudos to all teams, as the scores were very close! Team Diljaley and Team Chanchaley bagged the 1st prize! Despite the foggy weather playing spoilsport, everyone enjoyed the evening. It was truly a coming together of people from all walks of life!!
Anil Agarwal, father of Suruchi Gupta (Overseas Apartment), was so overwhelmed emotionally with the presentation that, following an old Indian tradition, he came up on stage to bless the antakshari participants and distributed cash prizes to each as a token of good fortune!!
