Meghdootam Senior Citizens Welfare Forum (Regd) celebrated its annual convention on 08 October in the hall of Meghdutam Apartments of F Block, Sector 50, Noida. Major General Rajdeep Singh was the Chief Guest and BN Singh (IAS) former District Magistrate, Gautam Budh Nagar was the Guest of Honour. The programme started with the lighting of lamp. JC Kala, Chairman of the Forum, welcomed the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour by presenting a bouquet to them. He, thereafter, addressed the gathering and welcomed the esteemed Chief Guests, Guest of Honour and other guests invited for the function. Mr Kala expressed his views about the welfare of senior citizens. Mahendra Singh, Patron of the forum, explained in detail the activities that the forum had undertaken in the past and is presently involved in, and also what it intends to do in furture. Rear Admiral Dr. S Kulshrestha, Chairman of the organizing committee; Dr. D Sharma, Chairman of the Federation of F Block RWAs; and Rajiva Singh, Chairman NOFAA, spoke on the occasion.
Mr Singh, Guest of Honour, emphasized that in the current scenario the role of senior citizens is very important in the development of the area where they reside. He was of the opinion that more and more of such senior citizens organizations should be formed as they are the mines of experience and guidance for the society. He honoured the super-senior members namely, Mahendra Singh and Dr. SK Puri by presenting a shawl to them.
Maj. Gen. Singh, the Chief Guest, said that Senior Citizens are the ideological guides in any society and that there was a good discussion among the dignitaries concerning senior citizens. Also, at the personal level it is important for them to have good health, happiness, sensitivity of all the institutions towards them, their safety, economic security and to have facilities for them at public places. He also released the Directory of Members prepared by the Forum. Mr Kala presented a memento to Maj. Gen. Singh.
A cultural programme was also organized. Rashmi Bala and her team presented some devotional songs and a few songs of the thirties and forties for entertaining the members and guests present at the function. Mr Kala presented a bouquet to Mrs. Rashmi for her good performance.
Special thanks were given for contributions made by Directory cum organizing committee namely, Dr Kulshreshtha, VK Kapoor, AK Nauriyal, KK Rana, Ramesh Chander, SK Sharma and KS Chauhan.
In the end, A K Nauriyal presented a vote of thanks and requested the gathering to proceed for dinner.
