Driven by Her Faith to Help Street Animals & Pets
Damini Tandan (DW 328) is a communications and leadership consultant and the co-founder of leadership advisory firm, Corner Office Advisors. However, her love for nature and animals drove her to learn and practice alternate noninvasive natural therapies and animal communication.
We got an opportunity to speak with her about her journey to becoming an animal communicator.
Damini is originally from Delhi where her grandparents settled after partition. But since her father was in the army, she’s moved across the country. “ We moved to Nirvana in 2009 but our main home was in Delhi, thanks to all the doggy family there. We moved here full-time in 2016 after my oldest streetie pas-sed. We continue to look after all the animals in our previous neighbourhood still” she says.
What inspired you to pursue animal communication/ Bach flower therapy?
We have always had dogs growing up and so I have been most familiar with them. But the credit for my journey of healing with Bach Flower Remedies and animal communication is Dopey, our basset hound who passed about 10 years ago. He would go for a walk and bring all the animals home, adopting puppies, and bringing home hungry and injured dogs. So, my journey in caring for and healing animals began quite organically.
As I started to work with animals, I realized the trauma of taking them to the vet (pets or streeties) is very high. I felt a great need to find ‘medicines’ that they would not resist eating. Most animals are clever enough to avoid anything that may have medicines.
As one begins to look for answers, one finds the right guides for such a chance meeting leading me to try Bach Flower Remedies. I saw how well they worked on animals and realized no one was qualified for animals. I then set about on a 3-year learning journey to get certified as a Bach Flower Animal Therapist. I have been using this for over 8 years for street animals, pets, and humans.
Driven by my faith to heal, and help others, in the early days of Bach Flower Remedies, I felt it would be so much easier if the animals could tell me how they were feeling. Otherwise, I was observing and taking the pet parents’ input. And the same day someone mentioned ‘animal communication’. I had never heard of it and decided to join a two-day course. And it turns out I was quite natural at it.
For a layman- what’s animal communication, Bach flower therapy?
Animal communication is a soul-to-soul connection that allows us humans to communicate with animals. But for me most importantly, we can scan their life force to understand where the illness is and ask them their thoughts on how to help them.
Bach flower remedies are flower essences. Flowers vibrate at much higher frequencies as we fortify our body with these freque-ncies, it enables our physical bodies to self-heal.
How does it help animals?
Animals are far more evolved than us, their acceptance of remedies allows them to heal very quickly. For example, ‘Boss’, our Nirvana community dog who is usually spotted outside Aspen Greens, had the worst cough which would have needed a vet visit and daily antibiotics. His caregiver tried to catch him, but he ran away. With Bach Flower remedies he was much better in 24 hours and cough-free in three days. This would have meant time, and energy trauma of vet visits and trying to feed medicines. This clever boy would have stopped visiting his caregiver for medicines and would have tried to self-heal.
How has pursuing them enriched you?
My perspectives on animals have completely changed, and I now allow them to lead me and to try and follow what they would like. For our two girls, we followed the path of listening and helping them through their illnesses. If they did not want to go to the vet, we didn’t. If they were open to allopathy over remedies, we followed it. And it enriched me to treat them as I would a human, listening, caring, and letting them have the dignity of an equal.
It has opened me up to love all souls and take care of all beings. My fear of reptiles like snakes and lizards decreased, and more birds started to show up at our house, building nests and feeling safe to leave their babies as they hunt for food.
