An Interview with Dr Mini Aggarwal

I met Dr Mini Aggarwal at a social gathering and as we got chatting I came to know she’s a doctor, practising in New Friends Colony. Our conversation seemed to run miles and miles!

Born and brought up in Delhi, Dr Mini, did her primary education, from Modern school Barakhamba Road. After doing her MBBS from Mualana Azad College, she pursued post- graduation, in radiology.

She got married into the famed, iconic Diwan Chand family on K.G.Marg. Ask anyone in Delhi who has, not been to Diwan Chand Aggarwal, in CP for ultrasound and I am sure that one person in every family has at some time or the other been there, for some kind of, medical investigation. People came from NCR and even neighbouring small towns also visit her clinic regularly.

According to Dr Mini, she gained experience and was exposed to updated techniques at her own centre. Due to the varied influx of patients, she has got a lot of exposure.

After 100 years of “Diwan Chand Aggarwal” at CP, it shut down and Dr Mini Aggarwal opened her own centre in New Friends Colony, at C-755.  Before starting the clinic, Dr Mini did a two-year classroom course, in Public Health, from Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI), to reinforce her approach towards general health and spread of awareness.

Dr Mini is very passionate about her work, sustaining the trust of her patients is her foremost priority. She is very careful in her investigation and is vigilant, for any unusual sighting. Through radiology she hopes to create and spread awareness on the health of women. An early screening for “early disease pick up” is very important for all middle- aged, women. Indian women have a mindset of keeping their health, last in the list. It is important for women, to keep a check on their health.

Dr Mini moved to New Friends Colony about two decades ago. She finds it to be a spread out colony, with nice people. Recently, she has noticed, a gradual deterioration, in the upkeep of the colony. “Unruly traffic and bad civic amenities are all adding, to the discomfort of the residents. It is becoming impossible to walk on the colony lanes, with the broken paths, unruly traffic and vendors at every nook and corner. Thieves on bikes are also discouraging walkers. Stray dogs on streets are also threatening,” she pointed out.

She feels, she will be happier, if the colony is revamped and the RWAs and the local municipal bodies take up their job proactively. Residents should also contribute. Dr Mini can be contacted on 98107 90001.
