Summer camps help to foster personal growth for children by providing fun & safe educational and recreational programs, and group & outdoor activities. This year, a few residents with expertise organised summer workshops (with specific themes).
Let me introduce them through my write up.
Anuradha Nag (T-37/ 803) organised culinary classes ‘The Happy Kitchen’ for kids aged 4 to 16 years to keep them creatively occupied and to cultivate an interest in young minds for preparing food items.
Anuradha made the children understand that cooking is a happy space to be in and a great stress buster. Recipes were a combination of cold foods & those with minimal burner usage.
Kids made cookies, frankies, salsa, fettuccine pasta, fruit salads, pinwheel sandwiches, truffle pudding, veggies wrap etc.
After learning all this, children had a sense of achievement. They were provided nice cut-outs of the recipes and a participation certificate.
Avantika Shrivastava (T-34/104) organised a fun filled indoor creative activities camp for kids between 3 to 8 years. They began the day with yoga. Dance classes kept them on their toes.
The children’s creative minds were sharpened with art and craft ideas. They learnt to create best out of waste as art forms. They played indoor games to learn & engage in healthy competitions.
Avantika imparted moral lessons to the kids through narrating fables.
Swarn Dhanjal (T-36/402) organised a workshop for children aged 4 to 10 years related to important topics like healthy diet and lifestyle, basic etiquettes like saying thank you and other greetings to our Guards, Didis and to other service providers in their daily lives.
Swarn introduced the kids to the First Aid kit. She also introduced them to their neighbourhood like society shops & taught them basic grocery shopping, billing etc. She told them the importance of our national flag and why we should always respect our country.
The children were inspired by a story session on the Dhruv Tara. They loved the foot – tapping bhangra the most. The camp wrapped up with felicitation of each kid with beautiful titles and gifts.
At the finale, the children walked the ramp with their mothers & grandmothers, followed by cake cutting & refreshments.
Anuradha, Avantika & Swarn express their gratitude towards all the parents who had immense faith & sent their kids to the summer camps.
