Rarely does one get a glimpse into exceptional brilliance of India’s Foreign Service Officers, navigating our country’s policy with difficult neighbors; today was one such day.
On the invitation of The Gracious Living Foundation at the Defence Colony Club we had the privilege of Ambassador Ajay Bisaria, India’s former High Commissioner to Pakistan; now author, in conversation on his recently launched book Anger Management, adroitly navigated by moderator Captain Rajesh Sethi.
To some Ambassador Bisaria wears the inglorious chaplet of being the only HC to be expelled from Pakistan; but for his countrymen he wears the mantle of hero, the one who sustained the brunt of Pakistan’s anger & frustration when India rescinded Kashmir’s special status by abrogating Article 370 of the Constitution.
The book itself is an unending wealth of information, a fascinating account of Pakistan India relations through the eyes of a diplomat. Packed with contemporary history, Amb Bisaria takes the reader through the painful journey of partition, creation of sibling nations, the agony of the largest displacement in recent history, massacres destruction and inevitably war; the laying of the foundation of conflict lasting the 76 years of both nations.
The book is an unstoppable read, not just for contemporary history buffs but for all those interested in India Pakistan relations. Based on factual events and information, it achieves the significance of a treatise earning a rightful place on history shelves of libraries.
Ambassador Bisaria opens to the readers the closed doors of diplomacy, the finesse required in anger management of India’s nuclear armed neighbour.
A highly recommended book, engrossing & entertaining, packed with knowledge.
A must read!
