Ishaan Chandoke, an excited 23 old E-Block GK-I resident wanted to video graph the unboxing of his new acquisition an Apple iPhone 13 from Amazon. But in store was a surprise he never expected, inside the elaborate packaging were three Bars of Detergent Soap. Shocked he informed his father Sidharth Chandoke about what had happened, who quickly reported the matter in GK-I Police Station and informed Amazon Executive Team.
Sidharth informs that on 6th November we ordered an iPhone 13 worth Rs. 50,497/- at a discounted price, with much anticipation on the Amazon App at 8:30 pm. Next morning on tracking they found that the Phone has been dispatched and likely to be delivered before 11:00 pm on 7th November, they even received an OTP for delivery handover. Later in the day a message was received that due to Diwali rush the merchandise shall be delivered on 8th November and received another OTP.
At around 4:30 pm on 7th November suddenly an Amazon delivery boy without any intimation arrived with a packet for delivery. Ishaan told him that he received a message, the delivery has been delayed, to which the delivery boy said that he has no such intimation. Non-the-less Ishaan gave him the OTP and took delivery of his IPhone 13 excitedly and filmed the unboxing.
The matter has been reported to Police and Amazon team has requested that they will investigate and revert in five days, till then please do not report the matter to the police. Sidhath would have none of it, he has given the Video recording and CCTV Grab of the delivery boy to the police and registered a credit card dispute against the merchant.
Frauds such as these are becoming rampant, one thought that such things happen in the hinterland and Posh Areas are suitably insulated. We have to remain ever vigilant and try to open packages in the presence of Delivery boys. Such is the finesse of the operation that the weight of the three bars of detergent weigh approximately the same as iPhone and the Box size also matches that of an iPhone. As for Messages and OTP’s received, Amazon Online Security has seemingly been breached.
