Celebrating World SCI Day in Vasant Kunj
Never before were seen such reverberating acts. The occasion was World SCI Day – Spine Cord Injury Day.
Imagine Wheel Chair Inclusive Dance, Racing, Playing Basket Ball, Musical Chairs, besides the Zumba Dance, Nukkad Natak, and confirming and assuring that despite physical difficulties, there is nothing that cannot be achieved if there is the will. A rally attended by 100 + wheelchair users and 500 + others to support the noble cause of voicing the challenges faced by the SCIs and voicing to create an inclusive society, reaching out to the marginalized / weaker section of the society. In fact, they became the torch bearers of hope and compassion for others to support them and teach them to lead a life without regrets.
Also, with a highly educative Session by prominent doctors/physicians on Spine care and Spine related problems, Rehabili-tation including the Neuro, Skin and Plastic Surgery etc. worth listening and learning.
Also organising a Live You-Tube chat session to reach out to masses and provide them with a platform to ask their queries on their ailments, followed by an inclusive cultural event showcasing an unequivocal potential of those Spinal cord Injured patients, besides felicitating the Spinal Cord injured for their victorious achievements in life despite their physical challenges.
Celebration of the World SCI Day every year on 5 Sep at ISIC-Vasant Kunj, is a remembrance to augment the vision of late Maj HPS Ahluwalia, who created the unique facilities of 200 bedded hospital in Vasant Kunj, standing as a one-stop solution for all Spinal Ailments, and to take his legacy forward under the current leadership of Bholi Ahluwalia and Sugandh Ahluwalia. The Icing on the Cake was the 100 + Youth joining the cause as part of their Cyclothon journey to reach out to others for spreading awareness for prevention and right treatment of Spinal injuries at early stages, supported by our Councillor Jagmohan Mehlawat and Rajan Chhabra, RWA-Narbada Apartments.
Citizens Forum also played their humble role of reaching every home in Vasant Kunj to spread the vital information of the unparalleled Event, besides the cF-Convener, Saranjeet Singh, securing announcement of the special discounts and facilities for our Citizens.
