Sanjeev Duggal recently received a fraud call from a man informing him that Rs 20, 000 had been transferred to his account by mistake. The man on the phone requested that Mr Duggal transfer the money back to him, as the former was at a hospital and needed the funds urgently. Assuming it was a fraud, Duggal told the man that no SMS had been received, to which the man responded that one may be coming soon. Soon after, Mr Duggal received an SMS, supposedly from the bank, which he recognised as a fake as all the ten digits were replaced with a cross. (When a person receives a notification from a bank, the last four digits are visible and only the starting digits are crossed out). When the man phoned again, Sanjeev Duggal refused to assist him, to which the man issued threats, saying that he was from Delhi Police and was calling from Rohini Sector-7 Police Station. According to Sanjeev Duggal, he told the man that he was reporting the matter to the police and then called the Sec 26 police chowki in-charge, Mr Amit, to apprise him of the situation. Mr Amit called up the man, who soon disconnected the call and switched off his phone. Residents have been requested to stay alert and not fall for such fraud.
