Akshaya Trithi In Princeton

On Akshaya Trithi afternoon, Deepa Jain of P 2C 141 distributed about 300 glasses of sugarcane juice near the main gate to the residents and guards for about 3 to 4 hours. The sugarcane vendor had his equipment to crush the sugarcanes of more than a quintal, and the recipients enjoyed glasses of fresh juice. Deepa Jain has an explanation for her deed. Ikshu Ras ( sugarcane juice) was the Pratham aahar of 1st Jain tirthkar, Aadinath Bhagwan. Mahavir Jain was the 24th tirthkar in the lineage. Hence Akshaya Trithiya marked the practice of charity. It is the strong belief of the Jains that instigated Deepa to follow the trend.
