AIKGA’S First Meet of 2025

AIKGA first meet of the new year was held on 7th Jan 2025. Radha Jain was the hostess and the meeting was organised at her place. Ms Sangita Agarwal was the guest speaker and the topic of discussion was micro green.

Micro Greens are Young seedlings of edible Herbs and vegetables that are harvested when they are still tender. They are different from sprouts which are germinated in water and have underdeveloped leaves. Microgreens have a more intense flavour than larger vegetables and herbs. Micro Greens have a tender texture and can have vibrant colours. They are rich in vitamins, minerals , antioxidants and other health supporting components.

Microgrames can be eaten raw in salads or sandwiches. They can be used to add flavors, sweetness and spiciness to food. The increasing Micro Greens are smaller than ‘baby Greens, because they are harvested soon after sprouting rather than after the plant has matured to produce multiple leaves.

Micro Greens can lower blood pressure, help fight cancer and can help to lower cholesterol as per studies on the subject. Micro Greens have become increasingly popular from the past few years and a great deal of ongoing research seeks to understand all the health benefits of these tiny plants. Micro Greens include beets, broccoli, radish, cauliflower, cabbage, kale, mustard, cress, peas etc

This is an interesting subject on which you can spend time and study the subject at depth for the benefits of yourself and family.

After Sangeeta’s session, AIKGA had planned a competition of sugar free sweets. Quite a few ladies had participated. Anamika Singla was the winner of first prize and Krishna Daka the second prize. It was a tough competition and it took time to decide the prizes.

Thank you Sangeeta ji for doing justice to the subject which was new for most of us. Radha, thanks for being the perfect hostess, who was taking care of each and every guest with heart and soul. The sugar free sweets competition was fully enjoyed and it was difficult to pick the winners. Thank you Manju bhabhi for organising everything be it the subject or the speaker or competition in spite of your health problems. Thank you.
