When it comes to winning, no one seems to beat the gardening ladies of GK2. During the past two years of covid the competition was held online – but this year it was back in offline mode.
Nothing matches the energy of an offline event, especially one like a flower and vegetable show. Readers would recall an article last month apprising them of the upcoming show and competition. Happily and proudly sharing the names of our esteemed winners:
The first prize for Terrace garden was awarded to two residents – Urmila Yadav (a resident of S block) & Sonali Gopalani (a resident of w block ). Both have beautifully created their terraces decorating them with almost all elements – water, trees, shrubs, and ornamentals in addition to innumerable flowers and vegetables.
The second spot was won by two residents again – Abha Batra (a resident of M block) & Ranjana Singh (a resident of S block). Abha Batra needs no introduction – she is also known as the Orchid lady and a regular contributor to Samavada sharing her knowledge about trees, birds, and recently orchids.
Ranjana Singh won the prize in the small garden category too – a carefully chosen mélange of plants, well-curated and lovingly created. Swati Gupta Jain won the prize for her beautiful balcony garden which abounds with almost everything from fruits, flowers, and vegetables. She is also the celebrated home chef of Gk2 featured in the samvada February issue.
Urmila Yadav bagged the prize for hanging baskets of Petunias. An artist and painter – she has decorated her home with abundant colours in the form of flowers.
Congratulations to all the winners!!
