AIKGA Updates – Unit 39 & Unit 42 Samvada DLF 2

On 21st February 2024 the All India Kitchen Garden Association lost one of its senior most and oldest members, PriyamvadaChaudhri from Unit 39. Mrs Chaudhri graced this world from 8th July 1933, she was one of the most lively and passionate people who loved gardening, music and painting. She lived a full life and was walking in her beloved garden until a week before she departed peacefully in her sleep. With her energy, passion, principles and character she touched and inspired not only her family but all those who had the good fortune to come in her contact. Priyamvada will be sorely missed.

Unit 39 met at Mala Farms, Dhunela, Haryana on the 17th of February for a day picnic at the farm and to learn by observing. Members were excited to get onsite learning at the farm which had vegetables, farm animals, beekeeping, honey harvesting and pottery all in one place. Nearly 40 members joined the outing. Food was prepared onsite which added to the excitement and fun. The host explained everything from harvesting honey to beekeeping, the salad harvested there and then, the potter’s wheel, fresh eggs, cows, horses, and goats all were admired by the members which brought back memories of childhood and a feel of village life. Tambola with a twist was the highlight of the day. Garden tombola chits with the names of winter vegetables and flowers were prepared by the members. Names were called out and struck. This new tombola was a hit and enjoyed by everyone. It was heartening to read the cheering comments shared by the members of the group. A fun-filled day came to an end but left beautiful memories for life for all.

Unit 42, met on 24th February at Mridula Gopal’s residence for a garden and terrace visit. Mridula ji is an experienced and avid gardener. A beautifully landscaped garden was a sight to behold.
