Unit 39 held its monthly meeting in person on 20th October. with festivals around the corner, Rachana Jain was invited to demonstrate and talk about festival decorations. Renu ji and Rachana ji guided members to have a waste free, eco friendly festive decorations. Since the meeting fell during Navratri’s, members were asked to wear the colour of the day, Green which also resonates with the garden lovers. Flower saplings were arranged from a reputed nursery for sale after the meeting. Vrat food was served to members.
Two important announcements were made, Annual lecture in the memory of Smt. Sarla Bhargava to be held on 30th November at 11 am, at India International Centre, New Delhi.
A seminar will be held on 2nd December on “Managing the effect of climate change in our home kitchen gardens” at Arya samaj auditorium GK 1, New Delhi. This seminar is a paid event with a fee of Rs.1000/-
Unit 42, kept its monthly meeting at DLF 4 City Club on 28th October. The topic of the meeting was, “Ecology balance and seed protection” by Manas Arvind ji. Manas ji is a well known name among organic fruit and vegetable growers and eaters. He has been organizing organic farmers market in Gurgaon for the last 8 years.
It was a double treat for the members as the meeting was held outdoors under a Peepal tree. With the organic market on one side and a talk by Manas ji the ambience was just perfect to learn about seed protection and balancing the ecology. A quiz was held for the members and all prize winners were given self propagated plants brought by the member as prizes. Members exchanged plants and saplings among themselves. Home made refreshments were arranged by the members which were enjoyed by all as recipes were exchanged.
