The month of September is a start to prepare for sowing winter vegetables, fruits and flowers.
On the 2nd of September, Unit 39 held a Zoom meeting with Anita Aggarwal and the topic was Winter vegetables and flowers. Her main focus was on sowing desi seeds, and saving desi seeds from homegrown produce. Preparing fertile soil, sowing as per the season and the correct time to sow and harvest the produce was shared. She also spoke about pests, disease, stunted growth, its causes and prevention.
On 15th of September an offline meeting was held with Rahul Kumar a pioneer in growing Roses. He judges Roses for all the shows held in the country. Rahul spoke about Roses, their types, growing them, their care, their food, pruning, disease and much more. He is an encyclopedia on Roses. The subject is so vast that it cannot be covered in one session.
An announcement about Udyan Mela, an annual event of AIKGA being held on 30th September and 1st October was shared with the members.
Unit 42 decided to meet online on the 22nd of September as the Guest speaker was from outstation. Due to last-minute cancellation Pamela, a senior member of the kitchen garden pitched in and a Q&A session was arranged. Members gained a lot from her as she is knowledgeable and has practical experience. Sujata Jain imparted her knowledge on sowing winter vegetables to the members.
