AIKGA Unit 8A Green Park organized Udyan Mela on September 21st 2024 at M Block Park opposite Jain temple in Green Park Extension.
It is my pleasant task to apprise the large family of AIKGA in different pockets of Delhi about the efforts of Unit 8 A, Green Park for organizing Udyan Mela unilaterally at a very short notice. Inspiration was to realize Shrimati Sarla Bhargav’s dream to reality. Late Sarla ji was the founder member of All India kitchen Garden Association and it was her dream that all the housewives should grow vegetables and fruits in their home gardens, terraces, varandas and pots and enjoy healthy food at home. Mela was conceived, planned and organized in a span of 3 to 4 days.
A meeting was called on September 19th, 2024 at our convener Manju Jain’s residence, where it was formally announced to all members of 8A unit of Aikga about organization of Udyan Mela and ask for their contribution to make the Mela a success. Members listed the names for all kinds of assignments which included booking of Garden, its cleanliness, number of stalls, sending invitations to AIKGA units in different pockets of Delhi and money matters ie expenditure on tents, chairs, tables etc and to balance it with receipt from booking of stalls. All this was accomplished within 2 hours.
On 21st September I reached the ground to lend a helping hand. I was a stunned to see participants in full form ready with stalls. Couple of stalls were by eateries which included kulcha chana, dahi bhalla, chaat papdi, Puri aloo, Vada, Idli, homemade namkeen, ice cream and Kulfi etc. Some of the stalls were booked by ladies with bed covers, bed sheets, utensils, bandanwar, jewelry – semi precious with silver or Gold polish.
Not to miss our plant and vegetation stall manned by a full team of a company that is ’City Vegetable Garden’ with connections world over and they came with their technician’s chart to explain the services they render in the heart of South Delhi. It was a fantastic occasion that was much appreciated.
