AIKGA Unit 42 Goes For A Picnic

As the weather improves, picnics are most desired and enjoyed with friends and family. Unit 42 decided to meet at Meera Bhudiraja’s 2.25-acre farm in Gairatpur Baas, Gurgaon Sohna road on the 24th of January. The farm is known as Abundance Natural Farms, and like its name it fulfills the same. A large variety of seasonal crops, fruits and vegetables are grown using organic practice, no chemical fertilizers or pesticides are sprayed. The bio diversity is maintained and the farm gives an enriching experience to the visitors.

Preparations for the picnic started long before and the convenors took the lead in making all the arrangements and even sponsoring dishes and gifts for the members.

Keeping Republic Day in mind, members were asked to wear any tricolour outfits. The flag hoisting and the national anthem was sung on reaching the farm. Two tempo travellers were booked for the thirty members, mainly to cut down the fuel emission and have fun travelling together.  Being mindful of landfill and minimum garbage, all members were asked to bring their own steel plates, cutlery, glasses and water bottles. Cloth bags to carry back the fresh vegetables and other produce from the farm were encouraged too.

Excitement took to the next level as the members sang songs on the way to the farm.  How can a picnic be complete without antakshri and tambola, everyone indulged and participated in the fun.

After a welcome and an introduction to the farm, members were taken for a guided visit by Mr. and Mrs. Meera Budhiraja. After a warm lunch with fresh salads, it was time to return home, rejuvenated and refreshed.

A zoom meeting was held by the convenors to discuss the forthcoming Flower show in March. Members were encouraged to make contributions towards the same and to get advertisements for souvenirs. (Anita Wagh managed to get two advertisements.) Filling of the online forms for participation in the Flower Show was explained as this year onwards AIKGA is going paperless.

Members made a generous contribution during the picnic, and all the collection was forwarded to the head office.

This bonhomie among the members shows strength, care, and love for each other.
