A Delightful Session on Succulent Tray Gardens
The latest monthly meet of the All-India Kitchen Garden Association (AIKGA) took place at A1 Park, Safdarjung Enclave, featuring an engaging and interactive demonstration on succulent tray gardens.
The session was led by Vijaylakshmi, an active AIKGA member and a passionate gardener. Vijaylakshmi’s journey into the world of succulents began when she realized that Delhi’s harsh summers were not conducive to maintaining a terrace garden. This challenge sparked her curiosity, leading her to explore the fascinating world of succulents, which thrive in dry conditions with minimal care. Over the years, she has perfected the art of crafting stunning miniature gardens using rocks and succulents, transforming simple trays into exquisite displays of greenery.
Her demonstration captivated the audience as she shared valuable insights into the best soil mixtures, the ideal varieties of succulents, and the materials that enhance the beauty of a tray garden.
With a keen eye for aesthetics, she showcased how creative arrangements can turn small spaces into charming green corners. Her work is truly an art form, and her tray gardens reflect her deep love for plants and design. The session saw a large turnout of enthusiastic members, all eager to learn and exchange ideas. Following the demonstration, attendees enjoyed tea and snacks, fostering a warm atmosphere of community bonding.
AIKGA Convenors Rachna and Rekha expressed their gratitude to Vijaylakshmi for her inspiring talk. As a token of appreciation, Savita Jain, a respected member of the group, presented her with a small gift. With the Annual Flower Show approaching in March, the convenors also guided members on how to fill out participation forms online, ensuring everyone had the opportunity to showcase their gardening talents. The meet concluded on a high note, leaving members inspired and excited to experiment with their own succulent tray gardens. The AIKGA community looks forward to another enriching session next month!
