The All India Kitchen Garden Association Greater Kailash Part-2 Unit, held it’s monthly meeting on Wednesday, 22nd February, 2023.
The Spring season meeting is always very special because Nature is celebrated by spreading colour and fragrance all around. This meeting was held at the Terrace Garden of an award-winning member Sonali Gopalani. Her garden is spectacular with annual flowers blooming, tomatoes fruiting, and birds chirping which brought a big smile to everyone’s face.
The unit had invited Ms. Ankita Lodha, as a guest speaker, at a time when the government declared this year as ” Year of Millets” it was very appropriate to have someone guide us with respect to how Millets should be included in our diet. Ms. Lodha enlightened the gathering about the ‘Millet Man of India’, Dr Khadar Vali, and his theory regarding Siridhanya Millet Lifestyle. According to him, most diseases can be cured by following the protocols required. This can be done by replacing wheat & rice with positive millets and consuming Kashayas. Ms. Lodha also shared the procedure of using Siridhanya millets to make ‘Ambali’ which is fermented millet porridge. Ambali helps to increase gut bacteria and this improves digestion of food and the absorption of nutrients.
In times of today when a lot of emphasis is being laid on curative aspects of health this is an endeavor at lifestyle change, to cure and prevent diseases. It was indeed a very educational and eye opening session.
This talk was followed by a prize distribution (for the winners from this Unit) who won laurels at the annual competition held by AIKGA. The unit convener Ms. Nandita Chaturvedi distributed Anthurium plants to the winners in various categories.
