The annual fruit, vegetable and flower show was held on March 8th and 9th at Gulmohar Park Club grounds. The theme for the year was, “Save Earth Save Life”
All the units gear up to participate and showcase their best. It can be in the form of growing fruits and vegetables in pots, flowers in pots or baskets. Ornamental plants, cacti & succulents, terrariums, bonsai, gardenscapes. Prizes are given for all the categories. Besides the alluring beauty of the display, it was the striking set up which caught everyone’s eye. The gardenscape set-up was appreciated by everyone.
Plants, bulbs, seeds, garden accessories, organic manure, eco-friendly products, and homemade food were available for sale. Guests and members of the association could be seen making purchases and grabbing whatever they fancied. A souvenir was released consisting of information and articles by highly acclaimed scientists and a heart -touching note by the Past Secretary, Bela ji.
Various competitions for children were organised, and they participated with great joy. Little Chef participated in cooking without fire, An On-the-spot painting challenge along with Pot and plant painting competition was held to keep the children occupied.
Prizes were announced for the members under various categories. Unit 42 from Sushant Lok (Gurgaon) got four prizes and all were won by the Convenor, Sujata Jain. She got 1st prize for Tray Garden, 1st prize for Cabbage in a Pot, 1st prize for Pansy in a Pot and 2nd prize for Pansy in a hanging basket. Alka Kanwar and Poonam Singhi participated and were given credit for their participation along with Jasbir who volunteered.
Members are encouraged to participate, contribute and volunteer for the show, as it gives hands-on experience and one gets to learn from the seniors and experts.
