AIKGA December Meet

December meet of All India Kitchen Garden Association Unit 8A was held on 3rd December 2024 at Rivaz restaurant. Topic was a variety of salads which can be easily made at home to make the lunch and dinner more interesting.

As per practice, an invitation was given to a guest speaker who could not make it at the last moment. Hence one of our members and the right hand of our convener Manju Jain, our very favourite Bharti Agarwal agreed to cover as speaker. Since Bharti Agarwal participated in a salad competition in the recent past and won the first prize, she did not have any problem in sharing her experience in the demonstration. We the members were the privileged lot to taste different types of salads. The names and quantity of ingredients and the methods are shared in a separate article.

When the fellow members started complimenting her by addressing her as “teacher ji”, she acknowledged the same with the words “I am a learner today and remain one as there is a lot to learn in life”. I was quite taken by her humility. I hope she remains the same throughout, that is the beauty of character and characteristics.

The day was sunny hence we took advantage of the weather and had a meeting in the open. Indira ji was requested to be the host which she agreed almost immediately. That should be the spirit of the hostess. She was quite gracious in taking care of her guests. Food was quite palatable. Since it was a new place we were wondering what kind of lunch it would be. Rivaz satisfied us with their service as well as their snacks and main course. Then Gulab Jamun and Kulfi was a new item which passed a test. It was suggested by the service boys that there were many more deserts. We chose the Gulab Jamun and Kulfi. We played two games of housie. It was an enjoyable day. Thanks Bharti and her companion in making all the arrangements. The demo was like any other professional giving a talk on the subject. Bharti was very humble in her behaviour.
