“If you cannot see where you are going, ask someone who has been there before.” Nandita ji has not only been a teacher but a mentor to all so when it was her special day – her 75th birth
day, we all came together to be a part of her celebration.
This month’s AIKGA meeting was a little different. Instead of regular lectures, we celebrated the birthday of our most beloved convenor, Nandita ji. Everything was planned very meticulously. The venue was Urmila’s house. She beautifully decorated it with balloons and streamers. The members contributed to giving her a beautiful present. 2 members took her shopping from her favourite store and brought gifts of her choice.
Everyone was asked to wear pink as that was her favourite colour. We all then gathered and Nandita ji started sharing her stories of her marriage. It seems like she took us into the world of Mills and Boons. We listened to her dumbfoundedly and wanted her to go on and on….. There was her childhood friend and she also shared some of her secrets.
It was then time for cake cutting. The cake was butterscotch flavour and decorated with flowers of different shades of pink. The food was also pooled by the members. There were channa kulchas, samosas, pasta, halwa, and dhokla….to name a few. We talked, shared jokes, and laughed a lot.
The wonderful evening came to an end and we all came back with our bellies full of delicious food and heart full of wonderful memories.
