AIKGA August Monthly Meet: A Success at Safdarjung Club

The AIKGA unit’s August meeting took place at Safdarjung Club, drawing enthusiastic participation from gardening enthusiasts. The session focused on a highly relevant topic—*Vegetative Propagation During Monsoon*, building on the previous month’s lecture at SDA. The esteemed guest speaker, Mahesh Mishra, an expert in home and organic gardening, once again captivated the audience with his practical and insightful approach. Mahesh Mishra’s expertise and his reputation for simplifying complex gardening techniques have made him a favorite among AIKGA members. In this session, he addressed common mistakes home gardeners make, explaining why desired results in kitchen gardens—such as healthy crops and flowering—often fail to materialize. His emphasis on easy, DIY methods resonated with the audience, offering solutions that are both practical and achievable for beginners and seasoned gardeners alike. One of the key highlights was Mishra’s live demonstration of air layering, a grafting technique, on a lemon tree in a pot. This hands-on demonstration was highly informative and engaging, as members got a real-time understanding of how grafting is done to promote better plant growth. The event concluded with a lively Q&A session, where members eagerly sought advice on their home gardens. Following the session, all participants enjoyed high tea, further discussing the day’s learnings and exchanging ideas. Overall, the August AIKGA meeting was a resounding success, leaving members inspired and better equipped to improve their gardening skills.
