Yes, Diwali was over long time back but the malba of building material, discarded items, used boxes etc. are still piled up in many service lanes of the colony. The safai karamcharis are only cleaning the regular space and not taking any initiative to remove this malba. When asked they have a stereotype answer, “Sahib hamare pass bada gaadi nahi hai”.
This malba and garbage is not coming from any other colony as our careless residents keep throwing building malba etc. in the service lanes and keep blaming the authorities but that’s not the solution at all. There must be a system through the RWA’s to allocate these service lanes to the EC team members who must visit these lanes every week and in case of garbage lying in any lane, must coordinate with the MCD staff to get it cleared. If defaulter is identified, they should be challaned by the concerned authorities and their names and address highlighted in the colony’s WhatsApp groups.
