Water scarcity during summers is now a given in DLF2 for the last few years. To actively address the issue before the temperatures soar, the Aawaj Volunteers Team of DLF2 took it upon themselves to stir the agencies to start taking proactive steps.
The team went in to meet Nitya Mohan of DLF to seek update on the digging of two tubewells as discussed in earlier meetings to support the shortage of water supply from GMDA. The survey for new tubewells has been concluded and is expected to bring positive results before the peak summer months.
The Aawaj Volunteers also met with Chief Engineer GMDA Rajesh Bansal and XEN GMDA Abhinav Verma. In continuation to all previous meetings, the residents are yet to see any progress on the proposed J block water tank and the demand-supply gap has been increasing with a high influx of population. Further, the proposal of reviving old tubewells by DLF with adequate approvals and NOC from GMDA has been pending still.
GMDA officials regretted that the supply from the water treatment plant continues to be limited across the town, though the split of the supply line between DLF2 & DLF3 brings some increase in the volume. As an interim solution, activation of tubewells in L and P blocks must be expedited and hence requested to DLF, and GMDA will support in speeding up the process with due state authorities.
