Nature is a treasure and a nurturing source of bliss for all those who find solace in it. The ambience of Suncity is replete with Nature’s beauty whether it is the gracious Aravallis, the beautiful trees or the lustrous flowers. Yet another significant gift of nature is the birds that grace the township with their presence. One such bird that will attract your attention is the Red-vented Bulbul (Pycnonotus cafer) This is the resident bird of the Indian subcontinent that inhabits the area in Aravallis and around it, making it easy to spot. It can be easily identified as it has a dark brown scaly body with a short crest giving its black head a squarish shape. The vent is the outer part of the cloaca that is used by the bird to eliminate droppings and thus this bird gets its name, the red-vented bulbul. The bulbul can be sighted more often from 7:30 am to 11:00 am in the parks and gardens in Suncity. The bird flips from one place to another with great speed and dedicating some time to observing this bird will leave you mesmerized by its enchanting appearance and melodious song.
A pot filled with water and some bird feed can give us a chance to have this winged beauty visiting our garden or balcony. The bird loves to take a plunge in the water and enjoys its bath, then feeds on the bird feed, and sings a melodious song. This is a delightful sight to behold.
