A ‘We Care’ Initiative In Our Neighbourhood?

A growing need for an initiative is being felt as more and more young professionals are either settling abroad or migrating to different cities for better career options. The well-meaning parents do not stop their ambitious children; yet, they have this nagging fear of their frailty and growing medical emergencies where they would want a support system.

When we talked to a few senior citizens, they seemed reluctant to relocate to a new place where their sons and daughters have taken up jobs, leaving behind their friends and the comfort zones that gave meaning to their very existence.

Parents in their retirement years may have a pension to take care of their daily needs; yet there is a huge vacuum which does not get filled by children transferring money or making some virtual calls once or twice a week.

‘We Care’ as we envisage the project, shall be an intergenerational link and initiative that aims at nurturing empathy in the younger generation and forging connections between them, and the elderly, in and around Noida.

Through this engagement of the youth in the care and companionship of senior citizens, We Care seeks to enhance the quality of life for the elderly, reduce their sense of isolation and create a more cohesive community.

Goals and Objectives

• Enhance the quality of life for the elderly by providing regular companionship and assistance

• Foster a meaningful engagement and sensitivity between the younger and older populations

• Create a supportive community environment that upholds the dignity of the elderly

We intend to go slow but be sure that we are heading in the right direction. So, readers, what do you feel about this initiative? Is it something that will benefit our community?? Is it something that YOU will be enthusiastic about?
