Remorse and regret are not easy emotions to deal with. However, this is what I felt when I heard of Ved Prakash Suri having passed away. I had connected with his daughter, Anu Prakash Suri, over an article I had written on chat GPT and I heard from her that her father, Ved Prakash Suri was an avid reader of my articles in the Samvada magazine and that he was a “fan” of my writings. I promised myself that I would meet him in person and thank him for the honour bestowed on me. Anyway, this was not to be, since in an unforgivable manner, I pushed this to the periphery of my many other obligations.
To quote his daughter, “My father, Ved Prakash Suri was a kind, large-hearted person with a positive outlook on life. He had a superb sense of humour and touched the hearts of people from all walks of life. A loving father, husband, grandfather and brother, he was full of life and related many an anecdote leaning on his sharp memory. He was an evolved soul and it was a blessing to have him in our midst. He was a civil servant and belonged to the AGMUT cadre of IAS.
Compassion and integrity were important principles that he followed in his professional and personal life. His vivid anecdotes would be peppered with Urdu and Persian idioms and everyday conversations would include Sanskrit shlokas from the Upanishads and the Bhagwat Gita. With his passing, his sparkling physical presence has gone from our lives. Yet he remains with us. Om Tat Sat.”
We, the community of South City 1, extend our heartfelt condolences to Anu and the rest of the family, even as we pray for peace for the departed soul.
Shri Ved Prakash Suri (5.11.35 ~12.02.24)
