A Taste of Tradition: Celebrating Onam at Home

Onam is a vibrant festival celebrated in Kerala, symbolizing the homecoming of the legendary King Mahabali. It beautifully showcases the region’s rich cultural heritage through traditional feasts, notably the elaborate Sadya served on banana leaves, along with colourful floral arrangements (pookalam) and lively festivities like boat races and dance performances, fostering unity and joy.

This year, I embraced the spirit of Onam at home. While I usually indulge in Sadya at a Malabar restaurant, I opted for a delightful meal prepared by a home chef. It was an authentic spread, made even more special as the banana leaves were freshly picked from my garden!
