In response to the rising number of cyber complaints, YSS Foundation, the Centre for Research on Cyber Crime and Cyber Law, and the Police Commissionerate organized a cyber security awareness and solution program on Sunday, 14 April at Club-3.
The objective was to make people aware of the cyber crimes dangers, provide information on prevention methods, and offer solutions to problems by experts. During the workshop, experts discussed topics like online fraud, digital arrests, cryptocurrency, loan and Chinese apps, and social media crimes.
Sachin Gupta and Anil Kumar Chaudhary, along with Anuj Agarwal, Chairperson of the Centre for Research on Cyber Crime and Cyber Law, were the main speakers. The presence of the Noida Cyber Cell team was commendable.
Inspector Rajkumar Chandel, Deputy Inspector Devendra Kumar, and Deputy Inspector Ajit Saxena from Cyber Crime Thana Noida were present. Air Commodore Nrip Mehta (PH3) (Cyber Certified Expert) moderated the program and provided residents with suggestions.
A number of Noida residents participated enthusiastically. They appreciated the opportunity to learn about cyber security and interact with experts. They also emphasized the need to organize such programs regularly to protect people from cyber crimes.
This program will play a role in making Gautam Buddha Nagar district cyber crime-free.
Amid cyber crimes which are running into thousands of crores, you should also know your rights and legal remedies if you fall victim to cyber fraud. What to do if you fall victim to cyber crime?
First remedy – When you fall victim to a money-related cyber fraud, the first thing that you should do is block your account number through the bank app, customer care, or visiting the bank branch physically.
FURTHER REMEDIES
National Cyber crime Reporting Portal (NCRP) – Since an online complaint reaches the concerned authorities the fastest, you can lodge a complaint on the NCRP portal at https://i4c.mha.gov.in/ncrp.aspx.
The main focus is to solve cases of cyber crime involving children and women, but it also deals with all types of cyber crime.
File a complaint at the nearest police station – A victim can also go to the nearest police station to file a cyber crime complaint. The other reason to approach a Police station is also to let officials know that your identity has been compromised and someone may misuse it to cheat more people.
Helpline numbers – The national cyber crime helpline number is 1930. The person filing the complaint will ask for your name, contact number, and bank account details, as well as the details of the account where your money has been transferred.
Online complain – The portal to file a cyber fraud complaint is https://cybercrime.gov.in/. If you have seen a cyber crime taking place against a woman or child, you can also file a complaint on their behalf. You need to register your mobile number through an OTP on the portal to register your complaint.
It is better to take precautions so that you don’t become a victim of a cyber crime. Please feel free to discuss organising more workshops or talks on Cyber Security and Awareness, or if you would like to assist residents in this regard.
LB Gautam (PH2, 9810756661) organized this program at residents’ requests.
