A Praiseworthy Initiative By SCWA
The Summer Camp organized by SCWA from 05 June to 14 Hune was not an ordinary camp but a ten-day carnival for children of BPL families. Dr Indu Sharma, the President of SCWA has been organizing such camps every year since 2017 except during the onslaught of COVID.
The camp period saw imparting of meaningful education for inculcating in the young generation a value system and a sense of pride for their motherland through a well thought of inclusive curriculum designed to meet overall needs of the young. All the educators offered their services voluntarily. A typical day in the Camp started with prayers at 9 am, followed by yoga class, sessions in fine arts (singing, acting, storytelling and dance), skill development programs and environmental studies. Children were given nutritive breakfast in the morning and sumptuous lunch at 1 pm. They were also treated extra with mouthwatering eatables each day. A health checkup of the children was conducted by Col. Arun Bala in association with Bhanu Ravi. On the valedictory day children put up a very entertaining cultural show which included songs, dance, recitation of poems, play on the theme of Save the Earth besides displaying articles they had made during the Camp. Shri Sant Bhushan Lal a highly respected member of SCWA, was the Chief Guest. The program began with the welcome of the Chief Guest by the President Dr Indu Sharma who in her address also appreciated the contribution of the volunteers and all donors in making the Camp a grand success. All the children who attended the Summer Camp were given certificates and a steel lunch box. The volunteers were also given Mementos as a token of appreciation for their selfless services. The Chief Guest expressed his happiness and praised the President and her dedicated team for undertaking and successfully conducting such a project The stage was managed by Veena Gilani, Saroj Gupta and VB Sharma. The children and their parents are craving for more such camps in near future also.
