As the heatwave continued all through June and July with no rain clouds in sight, it was becoming a challenge to remain cool and also keep the plants in the balcony healthy & alive. The scorching sun beat down on the greens and almost burning the leaves. All through that, the wind kicked up the dust which we have in plenty in Gurgaon due to the constant construction.
As soon as the phone would ping with a message of the weather forecast mentioning only the possibility of rain, I sighed a sigh of relief. However, it took almost two days for the forecast to come true.
As the clouds became dense and started to turn colour, we waited with bated breaths for a droplet or two. Finally, it did and the parched soil gave its wafty earthy fragrance. I don’t think there is any perfume in the world that can match this sweet smell.
Although it did not rain much that day it was enough to create a magical masterpiece of a freshly washed-out concrete jungle and to add a little drama to the painting out came the beautiful lilies.
