I remember the first time I met Frank Rausan Pereira. Both of us were at a house party. The moment I saw him, I blurted out, “I’ve seen you on TV!” Frank burst out laughing. Since then, I have had a chance to know this simple, unassuming senior journalist a little better.
Frank is an eminent journalist. He has worked with top media houses across India for over two decades. He was a senior anchor at Rajya Sabha Television (RSTV), the official broadcaster of the Upper House of Parliament of India from 2013 to 2021.
During his tenure at RSTV, Frank hosted flagship programs ‘The Big Picture’ & ‘India’s World’. He also interviewed the biggest names in the country and the world. “I covered Parliament for eight years and accompanied PM Modi and Former VPs as part of the delegation on official foreign visits.”
Frank has had many amazing interactions with big names. Two instances stand out in his mind. “When Neeraj Chopra returned after winning the Commonwealth Javelin Gold in 2018, I, while interviewing him, had to keep asking him multiple questions to evoke more than a monosyllabic answer.” Neeraj then used to be a shy boy, petrified of the camera. Today, he has overcome all his fears and is India’s sports icon.
Frank also spoke about the Late Manohar Parrikar’s humility. During the interview, he treated Frank with utmost respect and stumped him with his domain knowledge. “He demonstrated how we mustn’t let power get to our head.”
Frank has also been an integral part of other national channels like the TV9 network and NewsX. He takes a keen interest in economy, international relations, public policy, environment, politics, sports and technology among many other things.
Frank is currently a Consultant Anchor with India’s public service broadcaster, Doordarshan, where he hosts several flagship programs from time-to-time. He is also frequently invited as a speaker on international relations and journalism for various conferences and seminars and on digital shows and at universities.
Frank is a post-graduate in Mass Communication. He is an alumnus of Christ College in Bangalore. “On the personal front, I’m married to the love of my life, Noothan.” Their love story is true Bollywood style! They met while working together in the TV9 studios.
Frank says smilingly, “To hear the rest of it, you have to invite me for a cup of coffee.” Noothan is highly accomplished in her own right; she is a Master of Philosophy and an Oxford – certified expert in Temple Architecture and Ancient Indian Knowledge Systems. Together, they have two sons, Ethan and Aion.
Frank is also an integral part of Wishtown United, our very own semi-professional cricket team. He is one of the founding members of the team, which has played 300+ matches in three years and has been highly successful in the Noida circuit.
Frank has also been mentoring Civil Services aspirants for the last 10 years. Under his mentorship, hundreds of youngsters have made it to the IAS, IFS, IPS, other allied services and the State Civil Services. “I’m more than willing to mentor any Civil Services aspirants within Wishtown too.”
So, dear residents, if you know of anyone who can benefit from Frank’s guidance, please feel free to reach out to him! And even for non – aspirants, Frank is a great guy to have conversations with on myriad topics!!
