A Rainbow of Performances by Rangmanch

Rangmanch – the cultural group of the residents of Exclusive Floors organized an event on 7th May 2023 wherein the senior citizens of the society showcased their talent and had a whale of a time. It was an evening replete with singing and dancing. The event was anchored by Ashok Ghai who himself sang a melodious song ‘Tum Agar Saath Dene Ka Vaada Karo’. To start with, Saraswati Vandana was sung by S.C. Sharma who invoked the Almighty and gave a divine start to the event.

Many participants sang and danced with excitement and aplomb. After the devotional Vandana, Ranjini Basu performed a Manipuri dance on the bhajan Krishan Govind Hare Murari which was a visual delight. It is worth mentioning that she is a trained dancer who has performed both at national and international festivals. S. Rakesh who is an eminent writer sang his own composition ‘Beraham Aasmaan’ which was appreciated by one and all. Many of his compositions are sung by Pankaj Udhas, Jagjit Singh and Usha Uthup. Bahut Mehngi Hui Sharaab, thodi thodi piya karo has been his masterpiece.

Our very own Kokila, Mona Mathur, rendered ‘Aaiye Meharbaan’ beautifully and mesmerised the audiences. It was followed by a ghazal titled ‘Lagta Nahin Dil Hamara’ by Dev Kakra. Neeley Neele Amber Pe was beautifully sung by Sumathy Srinivasan. Our very well-known singer Kamal Jyoti entertained everyone with his beautiful voice. He sang Ajnabi Tum Jane Pehchane Se Lagte Ho to the T. Satish Bhatnagar sang a Sai Bhajan and made everyone sing along with him. Pammi Kakra pepped up the gathering by singing a Punjabi folk song Kali Teri Choti Hai Paranda Tera Lalini which was greatly applauded by the audience.

In addition, Madhu Monga sang a romantic song Rang Dil Ki Dhadkan Bhi Laati Toh Hogi, Yaad Meri Unko Bhi Aati Toh Hogi in her sweet voice and won everyone’s heart. The wrap-up performance was given by Ranjini Basu who not only sang a Bengali song but also the National Anthem towards the end.

Rangmanch is indeed a promising cultural platform which truly inspires residents of all age groups to be great performers. The maiden event (exclusively for senior citizens) was immaculately organized by Anil Goswami and Rakhee Kapoor who left no stone unturned to make it a grand and successful event. Let there be more such cultural evenings which not only entertain but also inspire us to showcase our talents!
