Inaugurated on 25 February, the Cultural Club (at F-34A) is fully equipped to be functional. The first event held here was when it became one of the polling centres of Sector-50, for Lok Sabha voting in April. Next, World Environment Day was celebrated here on 05 June with environment-related cultural activities under ‘Paryavartan’. On 25 August, a yoga workshop on ‘nabhi chikitsa’ was held.
For those who did not get the opportunity to step inside the complex and look inside the elegantly designed community centre, we bring here the interior sections photographed by the Samvada team.
The fully air-conditioned two-storey building is equipped with the latest modern fittings; and is ready to hold a variety of events depending on the occasion. The green area outside has been developed with flowering and ornamental trees, which gives an imposing and serene look.
On the ground floor, as one walks through the entrance, there is a large open area on the left and a flight of stairs on the right. The sprawling ground-floor hall is big enough to hold a large function.
Up the flight of stairs or in the elevator, there is a well-lit circular expanse. The enclosed section within it is planned to have a gymnasium and can alternately be used to hold organized events where the waiting and refreshment area can be arranged outside in the circular expanse.
Unlike the conventional community centres designed earlier in the city, this centre has a circular building with huge glass panes on the wall for a wholesome view of Meghdutam Park adjacent to it.
The facilities of washroom and kitchen are thought out well to let out the place for marriages and private events.
The scope and the vision of the centre is wide. Things will shape up once more activities are held. Residents look forward to the opening of the doors of the building for its regular use.
