It is well known that Gurudwaras, Mandirs or any religious places for that matter, offer guidance on living a fulfilling, effective and joyous life in harmony with all living beings and the Elements.
Our very own Gurudwara Sadh Sangat at I Block South City1 is no exception. It has gone a step further in terms of showing sensitivity towards the Environment in keeping with the teachings of the Holy Granth Sahib viz Pavan guru Paanee pitaa Maataa dharat mahat (Wind is the teacher, Water is the father, and Earth is the great mother.)
On Guru Nanak Prakash Utsav, and around New Year’s eve, our Gurudwara was heavily decked with flowers of many hues. It was suggested to Baljeet Singh (B46) that he advise the Gurudwara office to route the floral waste to a collection point at the Prachin Hanuman and Shani Mandir on Sunset Boulevard Marg. About 100 kg of flowers were taken to the said Mandir. Then again on Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti on 17th January 2024, 238 kg of floral waste found its way to the Mandir.
The collection is facilitated by “iamgurgaon”, a Citizen-led Movement, following which, the floral waste finds its way to Recyclers like Avacayam, where it is used to make incense sticks, organic “Holi” colours or compost.
