Utterly Callous Disregard of the Duties of the Elected Representatives on all three Tiers
An Abridged List Runs As Under:
1) No effort has been made for not renewing leases of DPS Junior & Oxalium schools, which are causing two nuisance points for traffic. If these are vacated, the plots are fit for underground parking, recreational lawns & games ground. There by eradicating the surface roadside parking of owners’ vehicles releasing Kms and Kms of pavements for leisurely walking in Vasant Vihar for pleasure and errands.
Original sore point of Modern School case should be separately examined.
2) Loss of sidewalks due to illegal raising of stilt floor level in very large number of high rise apartment buildings cannot be undone now, but case can be made for imposition of compensation to be paid by defaulters to the Society. These funds can be utilised for residents’ benefit and welfare for which there is no dearth and there is always a yawning funds shortage. Development of cycling tracks is one such proposal.
3) Shame of shame is the most daring creeping up of the South Indian slum from ‘Gunda Nallah’ level and setting up of shops on the berms of the main traffic artery i.e Outer Ring road abutting the twin petrol filling stations.
4) DDA parks just abutting Basant Lok were ideal for underground parking and Beautification of surface by creating grassy lawns and flower beds. Turning blind eye to encroachments of entire sidewalk on its front side by proliferating kiosks, advancement of frontage of a major hotel and now PUC testing facility by the petrol filling station further detriment the hapless, harassed pedestrians. The above setups are indicative of grave malaise in the present urban milieu, festering for decades and decades.
