A Mother’s Heartwarming Experience: Inclusion and Joyat Summer Camp

As a newly appointed teacher at a school, I was thrilled to enroll my children, a bright and curious daughter and a special son with unique needs, in the summer camp program. The experience was a mix of emotions, filling my heart with both joy and sadness.

Watching my daughter thrive and enjoy various activities like swimming, shooting, dancing, macrame, slime making, talking tom app making, etc filled me with pride and happiness. Her confidence grew with each new experience, and she made new friends. The school’s dedication to creating a nurturing environment was evident in every aspect of the camp.

On the other hand, my son struggled to engage with the activities, requiring extra support and encouragement. Despite the efforts of the dedicated staff, he showed resistance, making it challenging for me to see him struggle while his peers (my own students) easily followed instructions.

However, I am grateful to the school for providing an inclusive space where both my children could participate, regardless of their abilities. The school’s commitment to opening doors for all children, including those with special needs, is truly commendable.

This experience reinforced the importance of inclusive environments and exposure to new experiences for all children, regardless of their needs. I believe every school must provide a platform to all kids and every parent should consider enrolling their own children in summer camps to foster growth, socialization, and confidence building.
