Defence Colony is witnessing a green transformation thanks to the visionary efforts of Councillors Anita Basoya and Sandeep Basoya. With a commitment to making Defence Colony a model green space, they have embarked on an ambitious project to revamp and beautify MCD parks.
The initiative began with the park opposite Moets, where considerable time, energy, and effort went into introducing tulips, a first for the colony. The park, now known as Defence Colony’s First Tulip Garden, became a mesmerizing sight with vibrant tulips in a spectrum of colors, including unique dual-color varieties. To celebrate the creation of this flower paradise, or “Tulip Vatika,” a painting competition was held, where approximately 70 children participated. The event was graced by Councillor Anita Basoya, Sandeep Basoya, ji who awarded all the young artists for their enthusiasm and creativity.
Building on this success, the next project in the pipeline is the revamp of Durga Park, which will be transformed into a Herbal Garden. The plan involves removing dead flora and weeds and planting indigenous herbs such as Ashwagandha, Tulsi, Brahmi, and Aloe Vera. This initiative not only aims to enhance the park’s beauty but also promotes herbal awareness and sustainable urban greenery.
Beyond plantation and beautification, the initiative seeks to foster a sense of community. Plans are in place to host family get-togethers and community picnics in these parks, encouraging residents to reconnect with nature. By turning these parks into hubs for bonding and environmental awareness, the project ensures that future generations grow up deeply rooted in green values.
With these initiatives, Defence Colony is set to become a shining example of urban greenery, thanks to the dedicated efforts of Councillor Anita Basoya and Sandeep Basoya ji.
