Samvada (June) cover story talked on how some residents came forward and, with horticulture persons, tried to restore a healthy neem tree that fell after a strong storm one June night. They kept a watch subsequently and were happy to see green shoots protruding after few weeks. However, of late, the shoots are getting dried-up. They met local garden officials for its special care. Though they are making efforts; but feel that the probability of its continuation appears meagre. Restoration of a tree depends on the extent of damage to the main root during the fall. “My purpose of the above information is that let’s individually and jointly take up further, at the appropriate levels (local/higher), for its extra-ordinary maintenance and care… for the survival and rejuvenation of this so beautiful, big and old tree of our prestigious garden,” urges one passionate saviour of the tree.
