The day was an incredible one, filled with the joy of learning and the beauty of nature. We had the pleasure of attending a unique workshop hosted by Seema Ji, where the children, including my own, learned how to make seed balls and plant them correctly for proper germination.
The workshop began with Seema Bahl warmly welcoming the children from Stagecrackers’ group. The kids were brimming with energy and curiosity, ready to dive into the hands-on activity. They had brought along various seeds—methi, jamun, cherry, rajma, and dhania—and were eager to get started.
SeemaJi explained the importance of seed balls and why we need them to grow more plants and trees. The process is simple yet profound: the seeds are coated in a ball of soil and water, which protects them and allows them to sprout when planted. This method is not only practical but also therapeutic, as the kids discovered.
Watching the children dig their hands into the mitti (soil), mix it with water, and shape it into balls was heartwarming. They were having so much fun, getting their hands dirty, and enjoying the tactile experience of kneading the soil. It was delightful to see taheir little hands covered in mitti as they proudly created their “mittiladdus” (soil balls).
One of the highlights was when the kids went live on YouTube, sharing their experiences and showing off the different seeds they brought. They were full of questions, eager to learn more about the environment and the role they could play in it. Their curiosity and enthusiasm were infectious.
After the workshop, the kids enjoyed a snack break with their favorite popcorn and chips, a well-deserved treat after their hard work. They were thrilled to take their seed balls home, excited to see the seeds germinate and grow into plants.
As a parent, it was a joy to see my child and others so engaged and happy. The workshop was not just about planting seeds; it was about planting a love for nature and an understanding of the environment in young minds. It was also a chance for us, as parents, to reconnect with our own inner child and appreciate the simple pleasures of life. Oh and yes, The excitement when we arrived at Seemaji’s terrace garden, a place that instantly connected us with nature. The lush greenery and the serene lotus pots were mesmerizing. The children were fascinated by the small pond with little fishes, learning how these aquatic creatures help control mosquito populations—a wonderful example of nature’s balance.
I can’t thank SeemaJi enough for organizing such a wonderful and educational event. The children’s enthusiasm and joy were palpable, and the workshop was a beautiful reminder of the importance of nurturing our environment and instilling these values in the next generation. We look forward to more such enriching experiences in the future, where we can learn, grow, and celebrate the wonders of nature together.
