Diwali Mela was held this year on the Panchshila Club lawns on 19th October 2024, from 12 noon till 10 pm. It had 52 exhibition stalls besides the kids play area, food court and the bar.
The stalls had an even bigger variety and a diverse range this year. This included apparel, jewelry, cosmetics, paintings, bakery products, organic food items, Diwali decorative items, stationery, kitchenware, stationary, linen, healthcare electronic equipment and art & craft items’ making for kids.
A noticeable feature this year was that a few stalls were run by people coming from outside Delhi (booked through members). It shows the growing popularity of the mela.
At around 5 pm, the lawns wore a desolate look, and the stall owners were worried about their business. By the end, however, the total footfall exceeded 1000 and over 500 food bills were made during the fair.
It was nice to see Rajpal Bhaiya enthusiastically selling his candy floss (he has been going strong in the colony for more than 30 years and is popular with many). The author also met a Gurgaon based artist Shagun Mathur, who had displayed a range of paintings made by her, based on raga mudras. All in all, a happy and fun filled evening for many, ringing in the festivities of the month.
