Another spectacular beginning to a beautiful Sunday started with our 2nd Marathon at 6.30 am. Though the weather was cold, everyone’s spirits were warm.….
The excitement of people, made us plan another marathon on 11th February, 2024 before the season ended. With the objective of doing something different and to take existing members to the next level, we decided to add a new category of 10k… 80 people came together to participate in both 10K and 5K categories in our community marathon. In preparation for this grand event, I dedicated over 2 months to personally guide and train the participants, to help them achieve their respective running targets.
On the day of the run, it started with a 10-minute warm up session for everyone and ended with stretching exercises to relax the muscles conducted by our volunteers. It was heartening to see the enthusiasm of participants and everyone pushing their limits to achieve their target and enjoy the run too.
Everyone joined hands and supported us with preparations whole heartedly… all the arrangements were professionally planned, route was marked on the roads, proper route maps were drawn for runners’ reference, beautiful Standees and Placards were designed for creating wonderful memories for the participants, timings were jotted down at finish line by our volunteers for each participant.
Once again, we secured full support from both the DLF security team to ensure the safety of all participants and MCG to make the route spic n span for the runners. We also received an overwhelming response from our residents who sponsored and prepared homemade snacks for the runners. Our volunteers serving them with water and juice during the run. It was heartwarming to witness that not only the fellow runners motivating and cheered each other but volunteers cheered the participants on TILT bikes throughout the run, guards stood outside and clapped for them and fully motivated to finish the last lap strongly.
Most encouraging was to see many members joining together as families in the event. It is helping so many residents to connect with each other and create a different bonding between them. After the run, participants were served with hot tea, refreshing juices, and bananas and snacks to replenish their energy levels.
At every step of preparation, we also ensured the sustainable practices are kept in mind and made sure minimum waste is generated with our event.
What made it special was the collaborative efforts of not only co-runners but also from many others.
