The builder mafia seems to be taking over the backlanes stealthily by openly flouting norms. The drain pipes, grills which actually house the outdoor Air Conditioning units – all are extending into the backlanes. This is making it extremely congested and dangerous as the boundaries of houses back to back are coming closer than ever. This too has been brought to the notice of the DC who has instructed the licensing, sanitization, and horticulture departments to jointly work toward their removal. On ground, the residents are yet to see this translate into action.
