SCRWA Roundup November 2022

It will be 30 days since the new EC took over as you read this. So! What’s new!! What’s
changed!! A few will always say not much, but most will say lots. I did ask the EC Team for their
performance appraisal in their own words, but they are still settling down. They needed more
time. The President, Mr. Sunil Mittal, however filled in the gaps in a tele-conversation. With his
inputs and my own observations, let me take you for a stroll into Southcity-I under the new EC.

The first thing that strikes you in this new EC is the delegation of duties to elected
representatives. While we have the Prez and the GS handling key issues, the Treasurer is
fighting the ‘take-over’ battle with the Jt. GS beside him. The Jt. GS is also their IT expert and
cooking up a website without ‘cookies’. There is Sagar ensuring DHBVN stays on track, Mrs.
Seema Gupta handling Ecogreen Waste Collection and environment improvement, and Anurag
monitoring the revision of the MoA. Each one seems to have a portfolio and each one is
genuinely trying to live up to the responsibility entrusted. They are creating time to meet
residents Block-wise and that’s good confidence and rapport building. This past Saturday, 12
Nov, they were in M Block.

A number of Committees with residents as members have been formed. The main ones are :-
Amendment to the Existing MoA : Headed by Mr. PS Dadwal, this has some elite and
experienced members, with sound legal knowledge. I hope Mr. Arun Khanna, M Block,
can also somehow be included, because he is an authority in such matters.
Garbage & Waste Disposal : Dr. Savita Nagpal, our Colony’s environment expert, has
been tasked to coordinate and also set up a de-composting plant. Three able ladies are
part of her Committee.
Court case on B-84 Retention : Headed by Mr. DN Jain, this committee is tasked to
handle the case of retention of B 84 as the SCRWA office.

Three other Committees to look into the DHBVN issues, Security, and Guidelines for
construction work in the Colony, have also been set-up. The official note and terms of reference are listed in the letters have been shared by the EC with all residents, both on WhatsApp and email. These letters are also attached to my article, in case some of you have missed them.

A pleasant plus point I find in their work culture, is laying down time lines.
Their complaint portal for residents is up and going, and as the Prez mentioned on 10 Nov, they
are keeping the Connect Together WhatsApp Group for social well-being. Use the new link for
the complaints.

The official SCRWA notification dt. 11.11.22 on this link is also attached. It has
multiple options of online, landline and physical visit to B-84 office for lodging complaints. Mr.
Johnny, 8010002072
, has been appointed as the office caretaker and will monitor all
complaints. The Office will be open to residents from 1000h – 1400h on all days except
Monday.

The membership form has also been floated and it is time that all permanent plot / Flat holders
of South City-I who are not yet members, walk into the SCRWA office with proof of first
ownership and their cheque books, and avail the life time membership option. Those who do
not have ownership proof, will have to wait until the Committee on Revision of MoA comes up
with something legal and acceptable by the Government, for the majority in South City-I, to take on annual or temporary SCRWA memberships at least.

Hiccups!?! Yes they are in plenty. Change is not something which many folks take kindly to. One sees the Colony Group erupt in counters quite a few times. Well justified …. BUT …. my request to fellow residents would be to give change a chance. It is quite apparent that this EC wishes to do work for the community, by involving the community. Some of us in various Blocks may have to move out of our old comfort zones and hold the EC hands for creating their envisioned centralized system of care, upkeep and improvement of the Colony. They have been on the job for only 4 weeks and ‘change’ takes time. Let us give them that ‘time’ … let us be supportive.

Instead of tirades (not sermons) on the mount, give each change a trial period of 6-8 weeks. If it doesn’t work, suggest ways to make it work. I am sure that the EC will refine and re-model. If
this EC has won hands down on a ‘Progressive’ manifesto, why should any of us be ‘Regressive’ in our support. Southcity-I belongs to all of us and not just ECs. Let us help the elected EC to make it better.
