Community as a Musical Family

Building a family thriving in music, dance and culture

Let us introduce you to a musical family in our midst. Pradeep Pallavi (Mahagun Manor) is a trained musician and a music teacher. He is a professional stand-up come-dian, mimicry artiste and versatile anchor. Despite his busy life in music shows, he has participated and often hosted Meghdutam Rangmanch’s music programs. He is often accompanied by his talented and trained daughters, Kriti and Khushi. Kriti is a good dancer and singer. Khushi trained in western classical vocal and is a popular vocalist in two bands, Do Re Mi and Taqdeer.  Pradeep’s wife, Roopashree, is a professional Bharatnatyam dancer and graded artiste in Bengaluru. She also runs a dance school.

Here is a family that lives and breathes music and dance. Their house is always alive with the sound of music. Music seems to be an extra language in this family.

Now, of course, there are several famous musical families. Two examples here. One, the Burman family (Sachin Da, his wife, Meera Dasgupta, son Pancham Da and his accomplished wife Asha Bhonsle). Two, the Pandit family (Jatin-Lalit, Sulakshana and Vijyeta Pandit, brothers and sisters).

In our community there are families whose members are playing and singing music. One example is the Singhal family in Sector 150 where mother, father, son, and his uncle are into music. They have performed in Rangmanch’s music events. There are many more such families where music is an integral part of their lives.

But, in a majority of families, there could be only one member in the arts. At least half a dozen residents are either trained or learning music in every apartment. One can imagine the number of both children and adults engaged in music and dance in this part of Noida. Take the 25 odd apartments in Sector 50, and houses too, and we may have an army of more than 100 musicians, plus musicians in the making.

This is where Meghdutam Rangmanch’s community platform has a role to play. Communities need music, and music brings communities together. Rangmanch aims to bring such community talent together in its music and dance events. Such programs represent the gradual evolution of the community into a large musical family – A family thriving on music, dance, and culture.
