To break the monotony of a mundane routine, I often let my daughter play mobile games or spend time at gaming zones. But something always felt missing. It wasn’t fulfilling, and too much screen time wasn’t doing any good for her health.
We decided to do something about it and created a platform where children could get together, play, and bond. We held the first-ever event of Maati Ke Khel in Meghdutam Park, on Sunday 09 Feb. Parents rushed to register and, within a day, all 25 seats were full! Most importantly, the kids had a blast participating in the games lined up for them.
The activities kicked off with a thrilling Caterpillar Race. Team A went first, lining up with colorful balloons tucked between their tummies. At the signal, they began moving quickly, but soon balloons tumbled. Still, they didn’t give up and finished strong! Team B then wowed everyone by completing the race in record time.
Another activity was the Sack Race. Initially, we weren’t sure if parents would allow kids to hop into sacks, but not only did they agree – they joined in too! Watching parents and kids relive their childhood moments with their children was magical. It also creates a better bonding between children and their parents.
I always thought Shot Put was just for adults, like in the Olympics! But thanks to a respected Meghduttam Rangmanch member with a lighter ball for kids, we made it happen. With a volunteer coach guiding them, not only kids but even parents joined in, competing with full energy and loving the experience!
We introduced activities to encourage healthy eating habits. The kids’ responses amazed me – they knew so much about food! With the right environment, children can transform this knowledge into lifelong habits, and Maati Ke Khel aims to foster that.
Tug of war, an action-packed activity, was saved for last! Both teams lined up, gripping the rope, eyes on victory. We thought they’d be tired by now, but to our surprise, they gave it their all! Parents cheered loudly, filling the air with unstoppable energy and excitement.
This event was made possible because of immense support from Meghdutam Rangmanch. And parents not only participated but volunteered as well. While there were some glitches, we are determined to make the next event even more exciting!
