No matter the season or month, Central Park of Sector-50 is always a place that calls us. In February, the park bursts into color with beautiful flowers and blossoms on trees, while the weather remains gentle. During the summer, it’s perfect for a leisurely stroll beneath the trees, while winter invites us to bask in the sun. And when it rains, there’s no better place than the park to jump in puddles. Indeed, every season brings its own unique reason to visit.
In the park, we often see senior citizens chatting in groups, women enjoying games on the benches or taking walks, children eagerly waiting for their turn on the swings, and young couples finding a quiet corner to chat amidst the lush greenery. Central Park is truly our lifeline.
However, this year, something seems different here in the Basant season. The flowers are fewer, and the watering seems less frequent. “The park, when compared to previous years, doesn’t appear as well-maintained,” a senior told us.
Raj Singh, a regular to the park, points out that “…tiling (gudai) is not happening and the soil has become very tight.”
Cement caps from pits are missing, and the electrical box near the fountain remains open, posing a potential hazard. There’s certainly room for improvement, and we hope those in charge will address these issues. But it’s also up to the community to come together and ensure that our beloved park remains the vibrant and safe haven it has always been.
